Lost - Stolen

Please beware of pickpockets who are very active in crowded places like pubs, bar, discos, buses, Laundromats, Internet cafes, etc.
Don't leave your belongings or your cell unattended and NEVER lend your cell to anyone.
If your cell phone is lost or stolen, you must immediately call 848 STOLEN.

This report MUST be done in order to disable the use of the cell phone number by third parties and stop charges to the number.
The 848STOLEN service is available 24/7.
There is a one time charge of Euro 0.30 for each call to this number. If the 848-STOLEN number is busy or unavailable the student must continue calling until he/she reaches the operator and requests that the phone be shut off/disabled.
During business hours only (Mon- Fri. 10:00am 6:00pm), students may also call 335-714-6311 (outside Italy +39-335-714-6311) or 055-234-5322 (outside Italy +39-055-234-5322)

You must report this to Student Cells staff in order to disable the use of the cell phone # by third parties and to stop charges to the number!!!

If a student cannot remember the above numbers, he/she may ask a schoolmate to call his/her Student Advisor or Program Coordinator. If this is not possible, the student should locate an Internet cafe and visit http://www.studentcells.com for information. Important Reporting a lost/stolen cell to Police or by sending an e-mail DOES NOT block the number and students MUST notify 848-STOLEN as soon as possible;
The student is responsible for the payment of all phone charges made by third parties from the time the phone is lost or stolen until the time the rental agent is notified (see agents phone numbers above).

Replacement Cost Fee:

Regular Nokia cell:
If the cell is lost, stolen, broken or dropped in liquid (water, beer, tanning oil, etc) client will be charged Euro 100.00 for replacement of the cell phone, according to the official price list.

Blackberry:
If a rented Blackberry is lost, stolen, broken or dropped in liquid (water, beer, tanning oil, etc) client will not receive back their refundable deposit.

Payment of replacement fee: may be made in cash to the local Student Cells representative in Italy, or Student Cells will charge your credit card the replacement fee of Euro 100.00. If student plans to charge the replacement fee to their credit card please note that it may take between 2-5 days (weekends will cause a longer wait) for credit card processing and a replacement cell cannot be provided before this time. Students can receive their new phone earlier, usually the same day (or two days during a weekend), by paying in cash to the local Student Cell representative.
Cell Phone Insurance
Regular Nokia Handset

Two different optional renter’s insurance for lost/stolen/broken rented items, including cell phones and SIM cards, is offered through our partner, Italy Cell Phones. Insurance may be purchased when signing up, added after the contract has become active, or at any other time by emailing insurance@italycellphones.com.

Charges for insurance coverage are billed separately from your cell bills and are processed directly by Italy Cell Phones in Florence, Italy. Charges for insurance coverage will appear on your credit card statement as Italy Cell Phones. The “Full” plan covers 100% of the repair/replacement cost of lost/stolen/broken cell phones. The “Saver” plan covers 60% of the repair/replacement cost of lost/stolen/broken cell phones; clients with the Saver renter’s insurance will be responsible for 40% of the replacement/repair cost.

Replacement Cost:
if the cell is lost, stolen, crushed or dropped in liquid, client will be charged Euro 100.00 for the replacement of the cell phone, according to the official price list. The replacement cost includes providing a new cell phone, the cost of a new SIM card, the processing of number blocking, file reporting and taxes. Insurance is only valid for lost/stolen cell phones and DOES NOT cover fraudulent traffic (calls) incurred after rental items are lost or stolen. The regular plan, automatically provided free with each cell phone, includes insurance for proper use (see Proper Use Damage Insurance). Normal wear and tear are covered under Proper Use Damage Insurance. You are only responsible for damages due to improper use. Proper Use Damage Insurance does not cover cracked/crushed or water damaged rental items. If the rental items are not returned within 3 days of the return date, Renter's Insurance coverage will become void. The optional renter's insurance DOES NOT cover the battery charger (replacement cost 15 €) and the plastic bag (replacement cost 3 €).

Purchased insurance terminates after the first “total loss” event. Renter will be required to purchase a new policy if they would like to continue coverage for the replacement item. In other words, insurance covers the life of only one piece of equipment.
The Insurance Fee WILL NOT appear on the regular cell phone bills.

Blackberry

Handset Lost, stolen and major damages:
If the rented Blackberry is lost, stolen, crushed or dropped in liquid, client will forfeit the refundable deposit paid at handset’s pick up.

Minor damages: In case of minor damages, Student Cells will keep the deposit until the damages are fixed and the amount deducted from the refundable deposit. The remaining money on deposit after repair will be returned to the client directly on his/ her credit card or with a cashier’s check.
